He was the 1985-series "Another World". Only eight episodes were produced. The Sci-Fi Channel rebroadcast it fairly regularly until 2002 (in mini-marathon and a typical weekday slot, dedicated to the series of short duration).

This was a show called "Another World". Not for long, unfortunately.
